About
I've spent the last decade-plus building for the web, and these days people pay me to keep their software fast and in one piece.
How I got here
I got my start in web design, building logos and layouts in Photoshop and Illustrator before moving into building the sites myself.
HTML and CSS came easy. JavaScript took longer, until I found jQuery and it finally made sense. I started freelancing, and ended up designing and building sites for more than 50 clients.
After a few years of that I took a full-time job as a UI/UX developer, half design and half code. The code side won. Since then I've mostly worked on SaaS products, at small startups and at big companies, and somewhere along the way I found out I really like mentoring newer developers.
Away from the keyboard
I spend as much time outside as I can. Hiking, fishing, hunting and camping are the big ones. A weekend with no screens and no signal is how I reset after a long stretch of work.
I like taking photos out there too, which is where the photography page comes from.

A few more things
- I speak English and Urdu, and enough Punjabi to get by.
- Accessibility matters to me. One of my early jobs was building government web apps that had to pass WCAG AA, and I've cared about it ever since.
- I enjoy digging into old, messy codebases and cleaning them up. Figuring out why something works is half the fun.
